I said I didn't like change

She asked, "How can that be?

If there were no change," she said, 

"What a dreary world we would see!

"Change comes with the seasons

as they shift and move.

What would it be to only see

winter about you?

"This change is for the better,"

said she. 

And I agreed.

"There's more change with the weather," 

she continued to tell me. 

"If all it ever did was rain, 

how awful would it be?

And I agreed.

"Change comes through people. 

They may come and go.

Some friendships fade, 

and some friendships grow

"But change, most importantly

can lead us to love

and once that change has come, 

nothing below or above

can keep it from staying the same. 

Love it will remain.

And I agreed. 

​

So now I know change to be a friend, 

and I do not have to fear,

for I know that through whatever change comes

what matters will still be here.

The seasons will stay in order, 

the sun will rise and fall.

The snow will fade into the dirt, 

and the rain will drench it all. 

​

But, most importantly, 

through all the changes that I see,

she is here. 

And she is with me.
