"Burial Rites" lyrics

Bury me down in the empty water hole,

The one by the leafless tree

In that old hole where no more life is found,

Please, leave me be

The place used to be different

It was once filled to the brim

Kids and critters from all around

Would come just for a swim

Now evergreens have turned to gray,

Grass has turned to dirt

It may be hard to see why anyone would stay,

But for me, being away from it hurts

I guess it has seen its better days

The same is now true for me

But we've lived our lives and we've had our smiles,

So please, leave us be

If you miss us bring some flowers

Plant them in the ground

It would be nice if in that water hole

A bit of life could be found
